Home Gardening is Good

So excited to see that my small garden is growing!   I have been moving the plants around in front of my porch in order to help them get enough sunlight to not only grow - but produce blooms and fruit.   Actually these are veggies...  the long awaited appearance of zucchini blossoms and evidence that I may have some cucumbers.

There is something so satisfying about being able to cook dinner with homegrown ingredients.  These may not be truly organic vegetables (and herbs - pictures tbd) but they are part of my campaign to have more local produce in diet.   Especially since I am thinking about going back to only having meat from "happy animals" again.  This means only free-range chickens, cows and pigs who have been fed organic feed with no hormones and no antibiotics.

There are a number of reasons to make this choice but the main ones for me are the health of myself, the animals and the environment.   With this meal plan, I eat less meat in general.   It is not putting unknown chemicals into my body and not supporting the CAFOs which treat animals so badly and which pollute the environment in so many dangerous ways.
